I was born and reared in Lake Charles, Louisiana. I have three wonderful children; one daughter, Kennedy, who is six years old, two sons, Nicholas and Dwayne, whose ages are eight and thirteen. I wish I could say I have a lot of hobbies, but I don’t. My children and my job take up most of my time. 0utside of my home life and my children, my heart, interest, and love for teaching is all owed to my second grade teacher, Mrs. Lawson. I have a B.A. in Early Childhood Education. I have been teaching for eleven years. I have always wanted to be a teacher. I come from a family of educators. My mother, my brother, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins are teachers, or in administration. The reason I have made this decision to further my education is to improve my abilities as a teacher. We are now in a technology driven society. The more education I have the more I am able to offer to my students. I was on many committees at my past school, Fairview Elementary. They were as follows: Web master, lead Blackboard facilitator, lead computer technology facilitator, lead workroom facilitator, kindergarten chair-person, Quality team member, LINCS team member, DIBELS team member, and fourth grade Leap tutor. I have recently transferred to a new school this 2007-2008 school year. I also switched grade levels. I taught kindergarten eleven years, and this year I am teaching 1st grade. I must admit it is completely different.
