What is the length of the school day?
School starts at 8:15 each day and is dismissed at 2:50.

If I drive my child to school when and where do I drop them off?
Students can be dropped off after 7:45 each morning at the drop off area on the west side of the school.

If my child is going to be absent, what should I do?
You should either send a note to your child’s teacher before the absence or call the main office; if you want your child’s homework for those days please let us know at that time.

How do I find out about cancellations, early outs, or delayed openings?
If for some reason school is cancelled, delayed, or let out early, you will be contacted by phone through School Reach. You can also learn of cancellations, early outs, or delays by watching the local television and radio stations.

What is the cost of school breakfast and lunch?
Breakfast is 1.00 per day and lunch is 2.00 per day.

Is there a tutoring program for students who need extra help?
We are a school wide TitleI school and all students are eligible for extra help through the TitleI program. We also provide after school tutoring provided by certified teachers for all students who need extra help.

How do teachers communicate with parents/guardians?
K-3 teachers send home a daily “Take Home” folder. 4-6 teachers send a weekly folder. Teachers also communicate with parents/guardians through telephone calls, notes home, and email.

What special classes are available for my child?
Students attend art, music, PE, library and keyboarding once a week. The guidance counsoler also visits each classroom for a thirty minute session once a week. Students in grades 4-6 receive Spanish instruction 2 days a week.

What type of computer access will my child have at school?
We have two computer labs at the school. Students go to these labs at least once a week with their classroom teachers. They also learn valuable computer skills during their weekly keyboarding classes. The 4th-6th grade classrooms have a student computer ratio of 2-1.

How can I get involved in my child’s educational experience?
There is a strong PTSO organization at the school. Meetings are scheduled for the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 in the media center. We also have a volunteer program, if you are interested in volunteering please contact your child’s teacher or the main office.
